Ian is a senior executive with 30+ years cross-industry experience in the HR and HRMS fields. He has a strong general management focus and extensive experience with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance and Information Services. Ian is responsible for our Canadian enterprise consulting services.

  • 30 years of experience as practitioner and consultant in a broad spectrum of industries centering on HRM & HR systems with payroll, finance & information systems knowledge.
  • Published numerous articles and two books: HR Manager's Guide to Human Resources Management Systems: A Practical Approach (3rd edition, 2007) and Privacy in the Workplace: The Employment Perspective (2nd edition, 2009)
  • Taught the practical application of HRMS at the Center for Industrial Relations at the University of Toronto.
  • Frequent speaker at human resources, payroll and general management conferences.
  • Past-Chair of International Association of Human Resource Information Managament  (IHRIM).

  • Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa:  Salvaged a HRMS implementation project that was behind schedule, over budget, and poorly supported.
  • York Region Board of Education:  Project Manager for a Ross (now, NOW Solutions) software implementation.
  • Starwood/Sheraton/Westin Hotels:  PeopleSoft HRMS Implementation Planning Manager.
  • DuPont Canada:  Project Manager of  PeopleSoft HRMS Implementation integrating to SAP manufacturing and financials.
  • Workday: Consulted on the primary functional design features for new HR/Payroll software product, HR Software Design.
  • Google:  Conducted analysis of corporate requirements and provided strategic input for a new Corporate HRMS.  Also worked on a team to provide recommended global parameters. HR Systems Design Strategy.
