John Macy has over 35 years experience as a senior HR manager with an international airline and as a sought-after consultant in HR strategy and technology. He has written several books and published many articles on HR strategy, business case development, and technology architecture and delivery models.
Highlights
- A career professional with over 35 years experience in the HR practice and application of technology, as a senior manager with Qantas Airways and CET consultancy.
- Founder and Director, Competitive Edge Technology Pty Ltd, a consultancy company set up in 1994 and specializing in human resource system specification and selection.
- Published the HR component software application standard in 2002 and set up the first component software brokerage; introduced the first commercial component registry for HR products in 2006.
- Presented at conferences all over the world, including IHRIM, has written and contributed chapters to several books on HR technology and has numerous articles published in magazines in USA and Asia/Pacific.
- Assignments undertaken for CET have included Asia (particularly Malaysia and Singapore), most major cities within Australia and project assistance within the USA.
- Representing the HR business community, has chaired committees in Australia to produce data interchange standards and is a leader in the field of open standards, SOA and emerging component technology for HR.
- Regarded as the leading HR system consultant in Australia and has chaired the Australian Human Resource Institute's (AHRI) technology SIG since the early 1990s.
Accomplishments
- Hyatt: Worked closely with Hyatt resources to analyse the business case for a software purchase, identify savings through process improvement and built a ten year cost/benefit model.
- HSBC: Helped design and participate in the development of a Force.com application for their Latin American salary and benefits review.
- Numerous ODSE Clients: Produced a best fit analysis of product options using the Global Component Exchange database and a Force.com application to identify best fit and functional gap.
- Seagate: Worked with the Asian and American project teams to help implement a global software solution located in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and China.
- Australian and Asia Pacific Clients: Evaluated most HCM products in the region for different clients and provided implementation assistance where necessary. Products include PeopleSoft, SAP, NorthgateArinso, Neller, Frontier, Aurion, Talent2, EmployeeConnect, and many more.
- United Nations Funded projects: Worked with economic modellers and economists from the Australian National University on a Malaysian national HR development project.
